Match

Match questions can be used to test the participants’ understanding of related information. This question type is based on recognition and is especially suited for images.

To add match questions, enter a test and click the Questions tab. Click Add and select Match from the list of questions. Match questions consist of elements that belong logically together. In itslearning, matching elements are called pairs.

Questions: In the question field, specify in which way the pairs logically belong together, and at the same time formulate the question.

Pairs: It is up to the teacher to decide the pairs. A pair consists of a choice and a match. The choice is the part of the pair that is static, while the match can be dragged onto the choice. Examples of pairs are, for example, "milk" and "cow" (the cow produces the milk).

The pair below is from the Add question overview. The strawberry leaf (1) is the choice and the strawberry (2) is the match. When the participant sees the question, the match items are rearranged to make it more difficult.

When you are taking a test, a match question looks like the picture below. The strawberry is dragged onto the box with the question mark beside the correct choice. Simply place the mouse pointer over the picture you want to move, hold the left button down and drag the object onto the box with the question mark. The question mark box fills with a grey colour when the picture is placed directly over the box. Release the mouse button and the picture places itself into the box.

1. Click on a test.
2. Click the Questions tab.
3. Click Add.
4. Click Match.
5. Enter the question in the first text field.
6. Enter the pairs. The choice is placed in the first column and its corresponding match in the second. Click Add matching pair if you want to add a new pair.
7. Click Save.

Preview
Before you save a question, itslearning allows you to preview it. To preview the question, click Preview. By clicking the preview link, you can see the question from the participants' perspective. Submit an answer to see how the feedback looks for a correct and incorrect answer. Click the Back link to continue editing the question.
